BLOG
As part of my University module I had to work on two other projects and blog my thoughts, this is my experience
Public Dis-Order
For this production I was working on a Mockumentary based in a police station. The Director for this production was Daryl Blanche, and my role was his Cameraman. As i mention in the blog, leading up to the production itself I had be talking with Daryl to see what he wanted from me. I was using the Sony Z5, this was due to the fact he didn't want a the film look instead he wanted the same vibe from shows like Modern Family and The Office. The shoot itself was over the course of two day, production wise I think Daryl was well prepared and managed to counter most issues calmly.
Critical Incident
An example where i had taken the initiative was during the first day of the shoot, as everyone was nervous. There was a particular in the scene in the kitchen with the characters John and Billy. Due to small space that was available Daryl couldn't get the shot he wanted. I had suggested that we put the camera in the cupboard to cover the background as much as we could. That particular shot came out looking very good, and I'm glad my suggestion was taken so well.
Goal Mouth Debate
The Goal Mouth Debate was a live Football talk show. The Director for this production was Tom Letchford, the role I was asked to take was Sound Desk operator. This was not something i had done a lot or fully comfortable with, but i had gone back and prepared for this role. In regards what my role would entail, I had to make sure the presenter and guests audio was not peaking. I think working on this production enhanced my communication skills as if something was going wrong i needed to able to communicate to tom without making a fuss or distracting the others. I had also done floor work, to help Tom relay messages to the floor when the Talkback wasn't working at some points, as the show had to be in one take it kept the flow of the show going.
